The original windshield de-icer

The first snow of the season finally hit Woodstock, Illinois, my home since March 1996.

That got me to thinking about where my can of windshield de-icer is. Now I remember - - - in the trunk of the car, which is frozen shut.

And where is my scraper? In the car. The doors are frozen shut.

And that made me think of Pop's de-icer. Remember the pots of hot water we used to carry out and slosh on the windshield? I might just be using that "trick" today.
