New book - Philpott Stories

I was searching around on Amazon.com today and came across Philpott Stories, written by Nancy Bell for the Dan River Basin Association.

I've ordered a copy, and I encourage you to check it out on Amazon and consider picking up a copy for your own library.

You can read all about it here.

64 Years! Believe it or not.

2015 marks the 64th year that my sister, Clel Shore, and I have exchanged the same greeting card!

On Christmas 1951 she first gave it to me in University City, Mo. I tucked it away and gave it back to her the next year. And then she saved it and gave it to me in 1953. Somewhere along the way I removed the $1.00 Silver Certificate and removed it with a $2 bill. And then, one year, a Silver Certificate returned.

It has traveled safely across many miles between her residences in Missouri, New Jersey and Florida. And for me, through even more states: Missouri, Colorado, Iowa, Illinois, Colorado, Kansas, Colorado, Arizona, Texas, Colorado, Missouri, Virginia, Illinois, and now South Carolina.

Many thanks to the USPS for its safe travels!

A "little" snow in Colorado (again)

This is Betsy and Pat's place in Paonia, Colorado on Christmas Day 2015. Looks like they had just a "little" snow.

Seeing this photo caused me to re-think my 2016 plans to hit the roads on a motorcycle-sidecar outfit for a year. What would I do, if I were headed for Christmas at Betsy's?

Stay in Arizona, I guess...

For a few weeks I was all hot to ditch the Kia Soul and buy a used BMW with sidecar; then I came partially back to my senses. Is 76 too old to want to travel for a year with a motorcycle, sidecar, tent, sleeping bag and a dog?
