Christmases on Warder Avenue
I'm sitting here in Woodstock, Ill., scratching my head, trying to remember Christmases on Warder Avenue in the family home in University City, Mo. Gee, should seem like "yesterday"; right? Only it doesn't. I think my last Christmas there was probably in 1958. Well, that's only 53 years ago!
I remember the mantle with the stockings that Mom made for us four children. In fact, I still have my stocking! It hasn't been hung by a chimney for a long time. Who has chimneys these days? Gee, that stocking looks pretty flat, doesn't it? I'll have to get it out next year and let Santa fill it up. Maybe I forgot to put out the cookies and milk this year. I'll bet that's it!
A few years ago I tried to track down the old Lionel O-Gauge train. I don't know who ended up with that. It's probably worth a fortune now.
